The Valea Zimbrilor (Bison Valley) reserve was opened in late 2007 and the first European bisons were brought from Italy, Austria and Switzerland. It is the fourth European bison reserve in Romania after the ones in the Counties of Hunedoara (central Romania), Neamt (eastern Romania) and Dambovita (southern Romania). The Valea Zimbrilor reserve covers a 100 ha area, 80 ha of woods and 20 ha of pasture. Vama Buzaului is an agricultural community about an hour southeast of Brasov (50 km). This bucolic hamlet, whose traditional farmhouses stretch back from the road to gently rolling hills and a pine forest, is the ultimate in agrotourism. |
